PMUY-Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2021: The second phase of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY 2.0) is starting from today.

On 1 May 2016, the first phase of Ujjwala scheme was started from Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. Under this, a target was set to distribute gas connections to the women of 5 crore poor families. The objective of bringing the scheme was to improve the health of women by protecting them from chulha smoke and reduce pollution by increasing the use of LPG. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had also released funds for 1 crore additional LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme. Now what changed – In the first phase of Ujjwala, the government used to give financial assistance of Rs 1600 (deposit money) for LPG connection. Under this scheme, families getting gas connections could also take loans without interest for stoves and cylinders.
In the second phase, in addition to the LPG connection, the refilling of the first cylinder will also be free. Apart from this, gas stove will also be given free of cost. In April 2018, the government expanded the coverage of the beneficiaries of the scheme and included 7 more categories of women in the scheme. These include Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Antyodaya Anna Yojana, Most Backward Classes, tea garden workers, forest dwellers and people living in islands. After this the number of beneficiaries increased to 8 crores.
In the second phase, the paperwork and documents required for the application have also been reduced. No notary or affidavit will be required for KYC. Also, if people living in another place do not have a resident certificate, then they will also get the option of self-declaration. To women above 18 years of age. Women should belong to any one of the following categories. According to the point declaration, SECC families or people living in islands and river islands. Except Assam and Meghalaya, all other states are required to have eKYC. Aadhar card for proof of identity and address. (Not required for Assam and Meghalaya) Ration card or document containing names of family members. Aadhar card of beneficiary and adult family members. Bank Account Number and IFSC. If you have any other address in Aadhar Card, you can vote Voter Card, Driving License, Bank Statement, Ration Card, Electricity/ Telephone Bill (up to last 3 months), Water Bill, Flat Allotment/ Possession letter, LIC policy, house registration document, lease agreement can also be used as address proof.
You can apply by visiting the website https://www.pmuy.gov.in/ujjwala2.html. Here you will see the option of 3 different gas companies – Indane, HP and Bharat Gas. According to your convenience, click on Apply in front of the company whose distributor is near your home. After clicking, you will be redirected to a company’s website.
Here enter the complete details based on your document. Document verification will also take place after the online application is completed. Take whatever documents you have uploaded to the distributor of the company. Keep in mind, all documents must be original. Verification will not be done without the original document.
