In Uttar Pradesh, October 7, 2025, will be a public holiday throughout the state. The government issued an official order on Saturday. It is worth noting that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced this holiday about a week ago from Shravasti district. Given the special significance of this day at the state level, it has been declared a public holiday.
The Bharatiya Valmiki Dharma Samaj had demanded a public holiday to commemorate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. The society’s officials had submitted a memorandum to the government requesting that October 7 be declared a holiday.
The Valmiki community says that this day was previously a public holiday, but it was later abolished. Now, starting in 2025, this tradition is being reinstated.
