UAN-Aadhaar Link: If you work somewhere, then you will have a Universal Account Number (UAN) which is mandatory to link with Aadhaar. If your UAN is not yet linked with Aadhaar, then get it done as soon as possible. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended its deadline and now you have till November 30 i.e. the end of this month to link Aadhaar with UAN and verify it.
From December 1, 2021, companies have been asked to file ECR (Electronic Challan cum Return) of only those employees whose UAN and Aadhaar linking have been verified. This means that if the UAN of an employee is not Aadhaar verified, then the ECR will not be filed and in such a situation, the contribution received by the employer in PF can be stopped. This is an electronic monthly return that the company uploads through the employer e-seva portal. In this, apart from the basic details of all the employees, information about salary and contribution is given.
You can link Aadhaar and UAN in three ways
There are three ways to link Aadhaar and UAN, out of which you can choose according to your convenience. However, it is necessary that your UAN should be active.
Via umang app
- Through Biometric Credentials on e-KYC Portal of EPFO
- Through OTP verification on e-KYC portal of EPFO
- To upload KYC documents or to check status, EPFO employees can log on to the portal where the approval information will be displayed.
Just uploading documents is not enough
Linking of Aadhaar and UAN by uploading documents on the EPFO portal does not mean that the process is complete. Make sure it is linked with your company as well. For this, confirm by talking to your accounts or HR department. If the process is not completed even after a few days of uploading the documents, then talk to the company. In any case, complete it by the end of this month.
