This is big news for the SUV market. Mahindra is changing the name of its flagship SUV. The XUV700 facelift will now be called the XUV 7XO. This new model will debut soon, so listen up.
Flagship SUV Gets New Name: Mahindra XUV 7XO Debut Set for Jan 5
Mahindra made the official announcement today. The XUV 7XO will be the brand’s top Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) SUV. This is the second model to get the new ‘XO’ name, following the XUV 3XO (which was the XUV300 facelift).
When it Arrives
The Mahindra XUV 7XO will have its world premiere on January 5, 2026. Prices will likely be announced at the same time.
Exterior Look: New Design Cues
Mahindra released a teaser showing some new exterior details. They have not changed the SUV’s main body panels much. Spy shots confirm the XUV700’s general shape stays put.

Front Lights: The XUV 7XO features 7-shaped Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs). These frame the main headlight cluster. The look uses trapezoidal LED units. It is inspired by the electric XEV 9S.

Grille: The grille gets a new take on Mahindra’s slatted design.

Rear: Tail-lights are also refreshed. They use a variation of the XEV 9S’s design.
Inside: Tech Overhaul Expected
Mahindra has not confirmed the interior details yet. But, we expect a big tech upgrade inside.

Screens: It will likely adopt a triple-screen setup. This is similar to what we saw on the XEV 9S electric model. This means more tech for the driver and the passenger.

Seating: Expect both 6-seat and 7-seat versions to be offered. It is unknown if they will keep the 5-seat version.
Engine Details: Power Stays the Same
Good news for power fans: the engines stay unchanged. They will carry over from the current XUV700.

Petrol: A 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.

Diesel: A 2.2-litre diesel unit.

Transmission: Both engines get 6-speed manual and automatic options. The diesel automatic variant will still offer the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) option.

Price and Competition
The XUV 7XO will cost slightly more than the outgoing XUV700. The current XUV700 price range is around Rs 13.66 lakh to Rs 23.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
It will compete directly with big rivals in the three-row segment. These include:
