Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana: Various types of savings schemes are being run by the government for the convenience of the people. One such scheme is Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. The postal department has opened 11 lakh accounts in the last two days as a special drive under this scheme. In this, up to 7.6 percent interest is available.
Everyone is worried about the marriage and education of daughters. For this, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana has been launched by the government. There is tremendous craze in the government regarding this scheme. According to a report, on an average 33 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts are opened every year by the Indian Post Office across the country. Talking about the last eight years, the Indian Postal Department has opened about 2.7 crore accounts.
The Indian Postal Department had launched a special awareness campaign from 1 February 2023 to 8 February 2023 on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence and the beginning of Amrit Kaal. In the last two days, the Indian Postal Department has opened about 11 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts under a special drive. Let us tell you that on January 22, 2015, the Central Government had started ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ to benefit the daughters.
Under the scheme, there is a provision to open an account in the bank or post office in the name of the father of the daughters. The minimum amount for opening an account is fixed at Rs 250 and the maximum amount is Rs 1.5 lakh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian Postal Department by tweeting. He wrote in the tweet that many congratulations to @IndiaPostOffice for this great achievement! This effort will secure the future of the daughters of the country and make them more empowered. This has been much more than the target of opening accounts under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana under the special campaign by India Post. India Post had set a target of opening 7.5 lakh Sukanya Samriddhi accounts.
Many benefits are available in the plan
The Narendra Modi government at the Center had started the ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. Under this scheme, parents can open Sukanya Samriddhi account in the name of their daughter. Under the scheme, your daughter’s account earns an interest of 7.6 per cent per annum. Apart from this, there is also a review of interest every three months.
Not only this, it also gets tax exemption under section 80C of the Income Tax Act. Explain that earlier, under the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana 2021, the interest rate was 9.1 percent, which was later reduced. Until the daughter turns 18 or 21 years old.
