Winter Vacations in UP Schools: Winter vacations have been announced in UP schools up to class eight from December 31 to January 14. According to the order, schools will remain closed in the state till January 14. It will run as per schedule from January 15. This order has been issued for schools up to class eight. However, in view of the extreme cold, DM in many districts has ordered to keep schools up to class 12 closed for the next few days. The latest order has come from Kushinagar where on the orders of DM, DIOS Ravindra Singh has ordered to keep all government, aided and all private schools of all boards up to 12th closed from January 3 to January 5. He has said that there will be no teaching in schools till January 5. However, teachers and employees will continue other government activities.

Recently, the UP government has announced winter vacation in schools. In this regard, the Director General of Uttar Pradesh Education Department, while sharing information, had said that the council schools of all the districts will remain closed till December 31, 2023. The holidays of these days will be counted as winter holidays. Schools will now open on 15 January. There will be holiday till 14th January. Along with this, the government had said that in view of the cold, the DM at the district level can use his discretion and take a decision. If they feel that the cold is too much then they can extend the school holidays.

The mercury came down to eight degrees, there was dense fog.

On the other hand, cold is continuously wreaking havoc in UP. As the effect of western disturbance has weakened, melting has started increasing. In the last 24 hours the night temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius. Dense fog started from 9 o’clock on Tuesday night. The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of dense fog on Wednesday morning. There was fog in the sky since Tuesday morning. There was light sunshine for a few minutes in the afternoon and then fog covered the sky. As a result, melting started showing its effect during the day itself.

The maximum temperature recorded was 19.3 degrees Celsius. There was a sharp drop in temperature by evening. Late in the evening, around 8.30 pm, the minimum temperature came down to 12.1 degrees and fog started appearing. According to the weather center located at Amausi, there is forecast of dense fog on Wednesday morning also. The maximum temperature can be 20 and the minimum can be eight degrees. Visibility dropped to less than 10 meters at many places by night. Visibility at the airport was 900 metres.
