What is the fitment factor at present

At present, the fitment factor of central employees is 2.57 per cent. If it is assumed that someone gets a basic salary of Rs 15,500 in 4200 grade pay, then his total salary will be 15,500×2.57 i.e. Rs 39,835. In the Sixth Pay Commission, the fitment ratio was recommended to be 1.86.

Employees are demanding to increase the fitment factor

There has been a demand from the central employees to increase the fitment factor for a long time. If this hike happens, the minimum basic pay will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. At the same time, the government can also take a positive decision on DA hike.

DA hike can be done

DA hike of central employees is done twice a year by the government. The hike is effective from January 1 and July 1. According to various media reports, in July this year, the government may increase the dearness allowance by another 4 percent. In March 2023 also the dearness allowance of central employees was increased. Which became effective from 1 January 2023. At present, the benefit of dearness allowance is being given to central employees at the rate of 42 per cent.
