National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has announced the launch of token system for ‘RuPay Card’.
NCPI said that the Tokenization System (NTS) will be in the form of an option for the shopkeepers to store the card details. This will enhance the security of the customers’ cards and give them a smooth shopping experience.
NPCI said that as per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, sensitive information of customers will be kept in the form of ‘tokens’ to help in secure transactions. These tokens will allow payments to be made without disclosing customer information.
NPCI official Kunal Kalavatia said, “The guidelines issued by RBI on card tokens are to enhance the security of the digital payments ecosystem in the country. We are confident that the NPCI token system for RuPay card tokens will instill confidence in lakhs of RuPay cardholders for secure transactions.”
