Post Office e Stamp Facility: Indian Post Office has started a new initiative to connect the common people with the Digital India Mission. Under this, for the first time in the country, the facility of e-stamp is being available in post offices. This is one of the ambitious schemes of the post office, which has currently been started in 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh. This initiative has been launched as a pilot project. This service has been launched at the Main Post Office located in Kanpur Nagar on January 1, 2024.
Pilot project launched under digital mission
The Government of India has been trying for a long time to connect every state and district of the country with a single window system under the Digital India Mission. For this, special emphasis has been laid on digital payment system in the last few years. So that there can be more transparency in money transactions. The responsibility of increasing the reach of e-stamp to the people in Uttar Pradesh has been jointly given to the Post Office as well as Stock Holding Corporation India Limited.
Facility started in these 11 districts-
According to the report of Times of India, the postal department including Kanpur and 11 other districts of Uttar Pradesh like Lucknow GPO, Main Kachari Post Office of Prayagraj, Kachari Post Office of Gorakhpur, Varanasi Kachari Post Office, Agra Collectorate Sub Post Office, Meerut Kachari Post Office. This facility has been started in Saharanpur Head Post Office, Bijnor Head Post Office, Sector 34 Gautam Buddha Nagar Sub Post Office (Noida) and Ghaziabad Head Post Office.
The facility will be expanded to other places also
While inaugurating the e-stamp facility in Kanpur, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey said that she is very happy to start this service in Kanpur. Post Office will play a very important role in taking this mission of Digital India to every home because no other institution in the country has the facilities and reach like Post Office. He also said that in the coming time, this post office facility will be extended to other post offices of the state also.
