The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given a big relief to the EPF members. The deadline for linking EPF account with Aadhaar number has been extended.
Now employees of certain sectors can link the UAN of their PF account with Aadhaar number till December 31, 2021. For the rest, the last date is 30 September. It is noteworthy that it is mandatory for the members of EPFO to link their EPF account with Aadhaar. Earlier its last date for everyone was extended to 30 September. EPFO has given information about extending the date through a tweet. However, this exemption has been given only for North East areas and certain types of establishments. For the rest, the last date is 30 September.
Apart from North-East states, this date has been extended for insurgency affected areas, establishments in very marginal area, plantation, construction and beedi sector establishments etc. As soon as the employee is registered with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), the employee becomes a member of this organization and along with this he is also issued a 12-digit UAN (Universal Account Number). With the help of this number, the facilities of EPFO can be used online.
What will be the problem – If you do not link your EPF account with Aadhaar now, then the PF contribution coming from the company can be stopped. Apart from this, you may also face trouble in withdrawing the money deposited in the EPF account.
