According to the new rule, now there is no need to be a citizen of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to buy land, the condition is that you will get the land only to settle down and set up an industry.




In Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh now any citizen of the country can buy land, settle there and start their business. However, there is no approval for farming there. In this regard, the Central Government on Tuesday issued a notification for land law for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, which has been implemented with immediate effect. According to the new rule, there is no need to be a citizen to buy land in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The condition is simply that you will get the land to settle and just to set up an industry.

Earlier, only local people could buy or sell land in Jammu and Kashmir. The Union Home Ministry has taken this decision under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Adaptation of Central Laws. Under this order of the Ministry of Home Affairs, any Indian citizen can now buy land for a factory, house or shop in Jammu and Kashmir. For this, he will not need to provide any proof of being a local resident. On 31 October 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was declared a Union Territory by the Central Government, by neutralizing Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir last year.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has opposed this decision of Modi Sarkara. He tweeted, the change in the land laws of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be accepted. Now the cell of Kashmir will be operational and small land owners will suffer. At the same time, Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha said, we want industries outside to be established in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, investment in industrial land is needed, but the cultivated land will remain with the people of the state only.
