The Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) has completed seven years. More than 40 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened under this scheme. Many types of facilities are available in the plan including insurance. One such facility is of overdraft limit.


Amount up to 10 thousand rupees: Under this, even if there is no balance in your Jan Dhan account, you will get an overdraft facility up to Rs 10,000. In a way, it is like a short term loan. Earlier this amount was 5 thousand rupees. The maximum age limit for overdraft facility in this account is 65 years. At the same time, overdraft facility will be available only after 6 months of satisfactory operation of this account. At the same time, an overdraft of up to Rs 2,000 is available without any conditions.

More than 43 crore accounts: The number of Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts has tripled from 14.72 crore in March 2015 to over 43 crore as of August 18. Of these, 55% Jan Dhan account holders are women. At the same time, about 67 percent of Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas. Out of total 43.04 crore PMJDY accounts, 36.86 crore accounts (86 per cent) are operational. RuPay cards are also given to PMJDY account holders. The total number of RuPay cards issued so far: 31.23 crores.


Explain that a total of Rs 30,945 crore was deposited in the accounts of women PMJDY account holders during the Kovid lockdown under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana . Around 5.1 crore PMJDY account holders receive Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from the government under various schemes.
