A total of 400 stations, 90 passenger trains, railway stadiums and colonies as well as the famous Konkan and Hill Railway have been identified by the government for monetization.


The government will monetize 25 AAI-managed airports, including Varanasi, Chennai, Nagpur and Bhubaneswar, in the next four years.

A total of 400 stations, 90 passenger trains, railway stadiums and colonies as well as the famous Konkan and Hill Railway have been identified by the government for monetization. Let us tell you here that in the central government’s ambitious National Monetization Pipeline, the Railways is the second largest sector after the road, which has been identified by the government for monetization.

The government will raise around Rs 1.52 lakh crore in the next four years from the sale of railways’ brownfield infrastructure assets. Out of the National Monetization Pipeline of about Rs 6 lakh crore, the government will raise 26 percent through railway infrastructure.

For monetization between FY 2022-25, 400 railway stations, 90 passenger trains, one route of 1,400 km of railway track, 741 km of Konkan Railway, 15 railway stadiums and selected railway colonies, 265 railway-owned good-sheds and Contains four hill railways.

Between 2022-25, the government will raise Rs 76,250 crore and Rs 21,642 crore, respectively, through monetization of railway stations and passenger train operations.

Government to raise Rs 20,782 crore through monetization of 25 airports

The government will monetize 25 AAI-managed airports, including Varanasi, Chennai, Nagpur and Bhubaneswar, over the next four years. Through this, the government will raise Rs 20,782 crore. The contribution of the airport sector in the government’s National Monetization Pipeline will be 4 percent. According to the NMP document, the 25 major airports include Udaipur, Dehradun, Indore, Ranchi, Coimbatore, Jodhpur, Vadodara, Patna, Vijayawada and Tirupati.

Road assets worth Rs 1.60 lakh crore to be monetized


Under this pipeline, the government will monetize road assets worth Rs 1.60 lakh crore in the next four years. While launching this pipeline on Monday, Sitharaman had said that roads will not be sold under its campaign but they will be monetised.
