The government had started the National Pension Scheme to give pension to the people after their retirement. There are two types of accounts under NPS. NPS Tier-I account is with lock-in period and is the primary account. Tier-II has no lock-in period and is optional. It also gives tax-saving benefits to the customers.

Login to NPS website

  • Log on to the NPS Trust website and click on the Registration option. Now, you have to choose the ‘Personal’ option.
  • After entering your Aadhaar or PAN details, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.
  • Select the type of account you want to open as per your preference.
  • If you have selected Aadhaar option, then OTP has to be entered for authentication.
  • If you have opted for PAN, you will be charged Rs 125 to verify your bank details.
  • Now, for the acknowledgment number, fill your personal details and click on submit.
  • If you have chosen Aadhaar, most of your information will be pre-filled.
  • Choose from any of the eight pension funds, you will also have to choose the mode of investment and assign it to your nominee.
  • Upload your photograph and signature and make the payment. You will then be allotted a Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN).
  • Now one has to download the form and take printout, besides signing and affixing a photograph and mail it to the CRA office within 90 days.
