New Delhi. This is great news for laborers and workers ranging from daily wages (unorganized sector workers) to hair dressers, plumbers, electricians, motor mechanics or rickshaw-pullers. The Narendra Modi government at the Center has launched the e-Shram Portal for the workers of the unorganized sector on 26 August. In such a situation, if you get this card made, then you will be given many facilities from the government.
The central government has started the e-shram portal for the people working in the unorganized sector. Here workers can get their cards made. These card holders will be given help from the government and they will also get the benefit of government schemes. Here every worker of the country will have a record. What is e-shram portal? (e-SHRAM Portal)
The e-shram portal will issue a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) and e-shram card for about 38 crore laborers in the unorganized sector, which will be valid across the country. E-shram card will give a new identity to crores of unorganized workers of the country. It will help in tracking the migrant workers. Data and information of laborers will be collected. On behalf of the government, all the workers of the country will be divided into categories on the basis of their work on the lines of identity card and Aadhar card. Through this, they will not only get the benefit of government schemes but will also help in employment.
Free accidental insurance of Rs 2 lakh
If a worker registers on the e-shram portal, then he will get the benefit of accidental insurance of Rs 2 lakh. In this, one year’s premium will be given by the government. If a registered worker is a victim of an accident, then in the event of his death or complete disability, he will be entitled to Rs 2 lakh. At the same time, one lakh rupees will be given under the insurance scheme for partially disabled.
How to register for e-SHRAM card? (how to register on e-SHRAM portal)
1. In the search bar of any Internet browser, type the official web address of the e-SHRAM portal page – https://www.eshram.gov.in/.
2. Then on the homepage, link on “Register on e-Shram”.
3. After this click on Self Registration https://register.eshram.gov.in/#/user/self.
4. On self-registration, the user will have to enter his Aadhaar linked mobile number.
5. Enter the captcha and select whether they are member of Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) or Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) option and click on send OTP.
6. After this enter the bank account details etc. to complete the registration process and follow the further process.
Workers can take advantage of free registration even if they do not have a mobile number linked with Aadhaar. As per the information given on eshram.gov.in, they can visit the nearest CSC and register through the biometric authentication process.
