Income Tax Return: The number of income tax payers in the country is increasing continuously. People also get reports after filing tax returns.

If you had also filed Income Tax Return (ITR), then check whether the refund has been received in your account or not. Recently, the Income Tax Department said that between April 1, 2021 and February 28, 2022, it has released tax refunds worth more than Rs 1.83 lakh crore.

According to the information given by the department, in these refunds 2.07 crore individual taxpayers were given Rs 65,938 crore and 2.30 lakh units were given Rs 1.17 lakh crore corporate tax refund. When tax is deducted from the income of a person in excess of the prescribed limit, then he becomes eligible for refund. For this, ITR has to be filed with the Income Tax Department.

How to check status?

Actually, if you also had to get income tax refund, then you can check its status online. The status can be checked through the Income Tax e-filing portal or through the website of NSDL.

Get information from here

For this, first login to the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. Then click on View Return/Forms. Now select Income Tax Returns and enter the evaluation year. Now the status of your refund will be known. Refund status information can also be found through the website of NSDL.

These can be big mistakes

Sometimes the refund is not received even after the release of money by the department. A major reason in the cases of income tax refund getting stuck can be a mistake in the details of the bank account. If you had entered wrong account details while filling the form, then your income tax refund may get stuck. In such a situation, you will have to correct the details of the account on the website of the Income Tax Department. After that you will again be eligible for this refund.

What to do if funds are not transferred

Taxpayers can lodge complaints on incometax.gov.in. They can also use the toll-free number 1800-103-4455 issued by the IT Department. You can call this number between 8 am to 8 pm on working days. Apart from this, complaints can also be lodged on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department.
