Finally, after a long wait of many years, the color of Pushpak Express, one of the VIP trains, is going to change. In this train, instead of blue conventional bogies, Red Link Hoffmann Busch (LHB) class coaches will be fitted. Railway Board has allotted LHB rake of Pushpak Express. This rake will reach Lucknow and Mumbai next week.

Three rakes of Pushpak Express are required to travel 1400 km from Lucknow to Mumbai. Presently a rake of Pushpak Express has 24 Conventional Coaches. In which there are two SLRs and a kitchen van. Now after allotment of new rake, only 18 coaches will be fitted in Pushpak Express instead of 21. Due to 10 per cent more seats for passengers in each coach, the number of seats will not be reduced even if three bogies are reduced. Railway Board has allotted 60 coaches for Pushpak Express. Each rack has 18 bogies.

Now from October 30, Pushpak Express will have LHB coaches from Mumbai. While LHB class coaches will be available from Lucknow Junction from November 1. Pushpak Express will have only two coaches of second seating class. Although earlier the number of these coaches was five. Apart from this, instead of 12 of sleeper class, five bogies will be installed. While there will be four coaches of AC Third, two in AC Economy Class, one for AC Second, one for AC First, one for Pantrycar and two for Luggage Vehicle.

There will be 83 seats in the AC Third Economy coach. At present, only 64 seats in conventional coaches are available in AC third coach. Pushpak Express was given ISO certificate for its superior service. However, this certificate has now been withdrawn from Pushpak Express. According to railway officials, with the arrival of the new rake, the hope of getting the ISO certificate again for Pushpak Express has also increased.
