Let us inform that at present, about 35,000 station masters in the country are demanding that the railways fulfill their demands before the end of the month.
According to the report of the New Indian Express, the All India Station Masters Association has been fighting for its demands since October 2020.
Why is this strike happening?
The president of the association said that now they have no option but to strike (Mass Leave of Railway Station Master). Let us tell you that at present there is a shortage of more than 6,000 station masters in the whole country and the Railway Administration is not recruiting for this post. Due to this, only 2 station masters are posted at more than half the stations of the country. Although the shift of station masters is of 8 hours, according to this they need three station masters at one station. But due to shortage of staff, these station masters have to do 12-hour shifts every day.
Shortage of station masters
In such a situation, on the day when a station master has a weekly holiday, the employee has to be called from another station on that day. In such a situation, managing leave etc. in such a small staff is a very difficult task.
There is a strike on these demands
The President of the Station Masters Association says that we have sent the list of our demands to the CEO of the Railway Board.
1- All vacancies in railways should be filled at the earliest.
2- Night duty allowance should be restored to all railway employees without any ceiling.
3- Benefit of MACP in the cadre of Station Masters may be provided from 01.01.2016 instead of 16.02.2018.
4- Reorganization of cadres with revised designations.
5- Security and stress allowance should be given to the station masters for their contribution in safe and timely running of trains.
6- Privatization and corporatization of railways should be stopped.
7- Old pension scheme should be implemented by closing the new pension scheme.
