Talking about this, CPRO Deepak Kumar of Northern Railway said that no such new rule has been brought by the Railways. He said that for traveling without a ticket, the same rule applies as it was before the Corona period.

CPRO Deepak Kumar told that earlier if someone did not have a confirmed ticket, then that passenger had to contact the guard by taking a platform ticket. The guard used to send him to the TTE. TTE used to see where that passenger has to go, whether there is an empty seat in the train for that place or not. If the TT got any vacant seat till the next station, it was given to that passenger. But in the absence of seat availability, that passenger was dropped at the next station. The same rule still applies.
So, before believing any such news, you should do some research on it. No such rule has been made by the Railways that you just go to the TT with a platform ticket and he will give you a confirmed ticket.
