Today Weather Update: The Meteorological Department has predicted strong winds, rain, hailstorm and thunderstorms in many states from 7 to 12 May. Let’s know how the weather is going to be today?
IMD Weather Forecast: With the beginning of May, the weather has changed in many parts of the country. Various states have got relief from the scorching heat, while somewhere strong storms and heavy rains are causing trouble for the people. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings from 7 to 12 May. During this time, strong winds, rain, hailstorm and thunderstorms have been predicted in many states.
Warning of thunderstorms and strong winds in these states
- Thundersqualls with strong winds at a speed of 50-60 kmph are likely in Assam, Meghalaya, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.
- Strong winds may blow at a speed of 40-50 km per hour in Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Konkan-Goa, Telangana, Uttarakhand and western Rajasthan.
- Winds are expected to blow at a speed of 30-40 km per hour in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Kerala, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and West Bengal.
Hailstorm and heavy rain warning
- Hailstorm accompanied by thunderstorm is expected in Madhya Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Marathwada.
- Heavy rain may occur in Gujarat, Uttarakhand, eastern Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
- Hailstorm is also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Forecast of heavy rain and stormy winds
- Very heavy rain and stormy winds of 60-70 km per hour are expected in Gujarat. Heavy rain and strong winds will continue on May 8 as well.
- Madhya Pradesh is also facing a warning of hailstorm, strong winds (60-70 kmph) and heavy rain.
- Rain and strong winds (30-50 kmph) are also likely to blow in Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Vidarbha and West Bengal.
Clouds will also rain in South India and Northeast states
- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Lakshadweep etc. may witness light to moderate rains with strong winds from 7 to 10 May.
- There is a warning of hailstorm and thundersquall of 50-60 kmph in Telangana.
- Northeast India, especially Assam and Meghalaya are likely to witness heavy rains and strong winds from 7 to 11 May. Thundersquall may also occur on 7 May.
