The Gujarat government has approved Non-Practice Allowance (NPA) for doctors working in government hospitals and teachers of Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) medical colleges as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.

Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Nitin Patel announced this decision, describing it as a Rakshabandhan gift for doctors and medical college teachers.
