Immediately after the announcement by the Central Government to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees, the Gehlot government has also announced an increase of 3 percent in the dearness allowance of state employees and pensioners.
According to the announcement, the increased dearness allowance will be applicable from January 1, 2022. Now employees and pensioners will get 34 percent dearness allowance. Due to the increase in Dearness Allowance, there will be a financial burden of about Rs 1435 crore on the state exchequer annually. In the month of March, Gehlot has given another big gift to the employees.
The Rajasthan government has also increased the dearness allowance of its employees and pensioners by three percent like the Centre. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced this in the evening on March 30 on Rajasthan Day, a day before the end of the financial year 2021-22. In the year 2022, the Gehlot government has given two big gifts to the employees. Earlier, the government had restored the old pension scheme of the employees in the budget .
Dearness Allowance increased from 31 per cent to 34 per cent
About 12.5 lakh employees and pensioners of Rajasthan will benefit from the increase in dearness allowance. There are about 8 lakh officers and employees in the state. Apart from these, there are about 4 lakh 40 thousand pensioners. According to the announcement, this dearness allowance will also be payable to the employees of Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad, in addition to the state employees.
After the increase in dearness allowance, now the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners has increased from 31 percent to 34 percent. The arrears of dearness allowance till March will be deposited in the accounts of the employees and pensioners and it will be paid in cash from April.
