The Modi government is giving an incentive of up to 5 lakh rupees to those who open new Jan Aushadhi Kendra. But if this center is opened in an aspirational district, then 2 lakh more rupees will be available. That is, in this case the incentive amount will be 7 lakh rupees. If a woman opens a Jan Aushadhi Kendra for a person with a disability, a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe, then Modi government will also give an incentive amount of Rs 7 lakh. Until recently, this incentive amount was only 2.5 lakh rupees.

Commission of up to 20 percent on the sale of drugs

Now the Modi government is helping Rs 1.5 lakh per center to prepare furniture and other essential facilities of the Jan Aushadhi Center under this scheme. Also, to develop billing system including computers and printers, the central government is giving Rs 50,000 to each Jan Aushadhi Kendra. The Jan Aushadhi Center gets a commission of up to 20 percent on the sale of medicines. Apart from this, there is a separate 15 percent incentive on every month’s sales.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Project was started in the year 2015

The government started this scheme to reduce the burden of the expenditure of medicines on the common man. The medicines are available at 90 percent cheaper rates from other chemist shops in the country at Jan Aushadhi Kendras, as they are generic medicines. On the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Divas, PM Modi said that this scheme of the government has given a big relief to the poor and middle class families. PM Modi also said that through this scheme, new avenues of employment have also been opened in the country. PM Modi also informed that the people of the country have saved Rs 3,600 crore from this scheme.

Under the first category, any person, unemployed pharmacist, doctor or registered medical practice store can start. Then the drugstore is opened in the name of Prime Minister of India Jan Aushadhi Kendra.

If you are willing to open a Jan Aushadhi Kendra, then you have to take the license of Retail Drug Sales in the name of Jan Aushadhi Kendra. For this, you will have to download the form by going to http://janaushadhi.gov.in/online_registration.aspx. A change has also been made in this scheme as compared to earlier, now 5000 will have to be paid as application fee. Earlier, the government did not charge any application fee.
