FASTag New Update: Your FASTag may be blacklisted from January 31, 2024. From January 31, 2024, FASTags without KYC or incomplete KYC updates are being blacklisted. In this matter, instructions have been given to banks by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). An important revelation has been made in the recent report of NHAI. After which this work is being started.

FASTag KYC: Toll tax is required to drive on the road. For which earlier you had to stand in line for a long time and pay toll. But in this era of technology, toll tax is now paid through FASTag in the blink of an eye. In such a situation, if you are using FASTag then be careful now. It has become very important for Fastag users to get KYC done. If you do not get KYC done then your account will go in the blacklist. The last date for this has been fixed as 31 January 2024.

If KYC is not done on time, one may face many difficulties in paying toll tax. In this matter, instructions have been given to the banks by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In KYC, users will have to give up the FASTag already issued by the banks. After the deadline of January 31, only the latest FASTag account will remain active. Whereas all previous Fastags will be blacklisted.

Why are FASTags being blacklisted?

In fact, a recent report by NHAI has revealed that multiple Fastags have been issued for the same vehicle. Along with this, Fastags have been distributed without completing the necessary KYC process. Doing so is a violation of RBI rules. In such a situation, the old FASTag is being blacklisted. Many complaints have also been received that Fastag is not deliberately placed on the windshield of the vehicle. Due to which there is unnecessary delay at the toll plaza. Due to which users face problems on highways and expressways. The National Highway Authority of India, in an update, has emphasized on the campaign of One Vehicle One Fastag. With this campaign of the government, the experience of driving on the National Highway will become even better.

Fastag is installed on 98 percent tolls

NHAI says that only new Fastag accounts will remain active. The previous Fastags will be deactivated after January 31, 2024. Let us tell you that toll tax is collected through Fastag on about 98 percent tolls across the country. Whereas there are more than 8 crore Fastag users across the country. FASTag has transformed the electronic toll collection system across the country.
