Electricity Connection: In a major relief for farmers, the Madhya Pradesh government has launched a scheme to provide agricultural pumps and domestic electricity connections for just ₹ 5. Thousands of farmers have already received affordable and legal electricity connections through this scheme.
There’s good news for farmers in Madhya Pradesh. They can now get electricity connections for agricultural pumps and domestic use for just ₹5. This facility is being provided under the Sahaj Saral scheme, which aims to provide affordable and accessible electricity to rural farmers and domestic consumers.
The Madhya Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited launched this scheme at the state government’s direction, allowing farmers who received temporary connections during the Rabi season to easily obtain permanent connections. So far, 7,388 new agricultural pump connections and 5,703 domestic connections have been provided in all three divisions of Betul district, totaling 13,091 connections issued under this scheme.
According to the company’s manager, connections are being prioritized for farmers whose farms are near existing power lines, making the connection process faster and simpler. Farmers have the option to apply digitally, which they can complete on the company’s official website or at their nearest Common Service Center.
The government aims to ensure no power supply shortages during the Rabi season. To this end, repairs to broken wires and poles are being expedited and supply is being increased from nearby substations. Furthermore, strict action will be taken against those using electricity without a valid connection under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003, including heavy fines, court cases, and even punishment.
This scheme provides both legal protection for electricity use and financial relief for farmers. This will provide them with the opportunity to improve their agricultural practices and increase crop production. This initiative by the Madhya Pradesh government is a significant step towards rural development and livelihood security for farmers.
Farmers are requested to apply as soon as possible to avail the benefits of this scheme and avoid any legal and administrative hassles by getting a valid electricity connection.
