The Union Ministry of Labor and Employment will issue a 12-digit Universal Account Number (UAN) and e-Shram Card for about 38 crore laborers in the unorganized sector, which will be valid across the country. E-shram card will give a new identity to crores of unorganized workers of the country.

Today the Modi government gave a big gift to crores of workers of the country working in the unorganized sectors. Keeping in mind the interests of the workers, the government has launched the e-shram portal. Under this, e-shram cards of laborers will be made. On these cards, they will get a free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh. Under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana), each family is given a free health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh annually.

Workers will have to register themselves. They have to give complete details of their name, profession, address, type of profession, educational qualification, skill, and family details etc. Migrant laborers can register at their nearest Common Service Center (CSC).

Those laborers who do not have phones or who do not know how to read / write, they can register by visiting CSC centers. A registration card will be made for the unique account number of the worker, which has been named as e-shram card. Database of unorganized and migrant workers will be linked with Aadhaar.

Along with this, the government will also issue a national toll free number for the convenience of crores of workers of the country working in the unorganized sectors. Workers will be able to call on this number and get the necessary information for registration on the portal. They will also have to provide Aadhaar number and bank account details for registration on the e-shram portal.

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man Dhan Yojana is a better scheme for the workers of the unorganized sector. Under this, street vendors, rickshaw pullers, construction workers and people associated with the unorganized sector engaged in many other similar works will be helped to secure their old age. Under this scheme, a pension of Rs 3000 per month i.e. Rs 36000 per year will be available.
