Delhi: The Delhi High Court has given an important decision regarding the limit of keeping liquor in the house. The court was hearing on the receipt of 107 liters of liquor from the petitioner’s house.


Liqueur Store Limit in House: It is common for those who consume liquor to keep alcohol in the house. In such a situation, the Delhi High Court has given an important decision regarding this. The court has said that people above 25 years of age can keep nine liters of whiskey, vodka or rum in their house. Apart from this, they can keep 18 liters of wine, alcopop or beer in the house.

What is the matter

  • The Delhi High Court was hearing the matter of keeping 132 bottles of liquor i.e. 107.2 liters of liquor in the house. There are a total of six members in that house, so they have got permission to keep a total of 162 liters of liquor in the house.
  • The Excise Department had put red in the house of the accused in 2020. Then the department got 51.8 liters of whiskey, vodka or rum from it. Apart from this, he also got 55.4 liters of wine and beer.
  • A total of 132 Indian and foreign liquor bottles were found by the department in this raid near Panchsheel Park. Then the Excise Department confiscated that liquor saying that it does not have any valid license to store liquor. Apart from this, more liquor has been kept than what is allowed.

what decision

  • After getting liquor from the house, an FIR was registered against him under the Excise Act of section 33.
  • Justice Subramaniam Prasad, who is hearing the matter, told that there are six adults and four children in the house of the petitioner. In such a situation, under Rule 20, in this house of six adults who are above 25 years of age, they are allowed to keep 54 liters of whiskey, vodka or rum liquor in the house.
  • Apart from this, he can also keep 108 liters of wine and beer in the house. In such a situation, the court declared the petitioner free from crime and asked to quash the case registered against the offender.
