Even after September 1, 2021, the date of Aadhaar seeding has been considered, but this work is pending in only a few states of the country. UAN of about 94% EPF member in the country has been linked with Aadhaar.

The date for linking Aadhaar with PF Universal Account Number (UAN) has extended, but not everyone is getting this extension. The companies related to building-construction and plantation of 7 states of North East will get the benefit of the extended date. Retirement fund body EPFO, in one of its circulars, had fixed the date of Aadhaar seeding as September 1, which has been extended to December 31, 2021.

Linking Aadhaar number with Universal Account Number (UAN) makes it easy for employees to withdraw and transfer Provident Fund (PF). On a regular basis, companies are required to submit electronic challan-cum-return (ECR) with employee details with the EPFO. ECR is to be filed only for those employees who have Aadhaar number along with UAN.

what was the instruction before
This new rule for linking UAN with Aadhaar was to come into effect from June 1, 2021, but was later extended till September 1, 2021. Now, the deadline for linking Aadhaar with UAN has been extended till December 31, 2021 for certain companies in the North East. Since Aadhaar seeding is mandatory for any withdrawal and transfer of PF funds, depositing money in Aadhar linked UAN will help people to avail withdrawal benefits and file e-nominations online without intruding companies. meets. If Aadhaar is linked with UAN, then delay in withdrawing money can be avoided.

Employees joining companies linked to EPFO on or after October 1, 2017 have Aadhaar linked UAN. Apart from this, those employees or their companies who got the UAN number before October 1, 2017, can get the seeding done on the basis of e-KYC through EPFO portal or UMANG app. UAN will be linked to Aadhaar number only then money can be withdrawn from the member’s PF account. In view of this, EPFO had issued instructions for seeding Aadhaar from UAN on June 1, 2021. It said that PF money will be deposited from ECR only when Aadhaar and UN are linked. Along with this, the member will also have to link these two documents to withdraw money.

why date extended
However, in view of the difficulties being faced by members and companies in linking UAN with Aadhaar, the date of September 1 has been extended. In view of the second wave of Corona epidemic, the last date has been extended due to delay in updating Aadhaar or any correction. This rule was earlier to be implemented in June but after the instructions of the Central Government, EPFO extended it till September 1. Later this deadline has been extended till December 31 for 7 states of the North East and certain companies.

94% UAN added
Even after September 1, 2021, the date of Aadhaar seeding has been considered, but this work is pending in only a few states of the country. UAN of about 94% EPF member in the country has been linked with Aadhaar. But in the North Eastern Zone of EPFO and certain types of companies, Aadhaar has not been linked with UAN. These include companies related to beedi makers, building construction and horticulture.

The last date for Aadhaar seeding for Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura has been fixed as December 31. However, those who have not yet linked Aadhaar and UAN can do this work. It can be completed on EPFO or UMANG portal. If you have linked, then you must check the status of uploading of the document once.
