With the air quality level in the National Capital Region (NCR) at its peak, the Haryana government has decided to close all schools in Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat and Jhajjar to 17 Closed till November. The air quality in the national capital and adjoining areas fell in the ‘severe category’, leaving Delhiites scrambling for fresh air everyday.



The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR) reported that the city has an air quality index (AQI) of 499, which is in the ‘severe category’.

The Supreme Court said that the pollution situation is so bad that people are wearing masks inside their homes.

A bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana said that there are other causes of pollution, such as vehicular emissions, crackers and dust, which cannot be attributed to stubble burning alone.

The top court also expressed concern that schools have opened up in the national capital and children are facing severe pollution conditions.
