7th Pay Commission: Good news! Dearness allowance of central employees may increase by 4%, labor ministry data released

7th Pay Commission latest news: There is great news for the central employees. After two months of continuous decrease, there has been a big jump in the AICPI Index. With this once again the way for increase in dearness allowance is being cleared. There has been a jump of 1 point in the number of the index for March 2022. With this, the next dearness allowance (Next DA Hike) is likely to increase by 3%. However, the numbers for April-May and June are yet to come. If it continues to bounce even further, then it can be expected that a hike of 4% can be seen in DA.

Big jump in AICPI numbers in March

Under the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance is given to central employees twice. First January and second July. For January 2022, the central employees have got the gift of 3% DA Hike. Now the next Dearness Allowance (Next DA Hike) will be revised in July. During this, inflation numbers will be updated in the All India Consumer Price Index. Now the labor ministry’s numbers for 3 months have come. There was a slight decline in January and February. It was reduced to 125.1 in January. At the same time, in February it had reached 125 points. But, there has been a big jump in March and the index has increased by 1 point to 126. In December 2021, the AICPI figure stood at 125.4.

Labor Ministry releases figures

Dearness allowance figures have started coming. At present, the figures that have come are indicating that the increase in the next dearness allowance may be up to 3%. At the same time, if the index shows a jump in the next three months, then DA Hike can also be 4%. The data of All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) has been taken by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets located in 88 industrially important centers of the country. The index has been prepared for 88 centers and for the entire country. AICPI is released on the last working day of every month.

DA is available for cost of living

Dearness allowance is given to central and state government employees to improve their cost of living level. This allowance is a part of the salary structure, so there should be no difference in the standard of living of the employee even after the rise in inflation. Dearness allowance (DA) is given to government employees, public sector employees and dearness relief to pensioners.

DA’s base year was changed

The Ministry of Labor and Employment has changed the calculation formula regarding Dearness Allowance. The Labor Ministry has changed the base year 2016 for Dearness Allowance (DA Calculation). A new series of Wage Rate Index (WRI-Wage Rate Index) has been released. The Labor Ministry said that the new series of WRI with base year 2016=100 will replace the old series of base year 1963-65.
