7th Pay Commission: The government increases the dearness allowance of the employees twice a year. For the first time, it was increased by four percent on March 24, 2023, after which the DA of the employees increased from 38 percent to 42 percent.

Central employees can get a big gift from the central government. For the second half of the year 2023, an increase in dearness allowance (DA Hike) can be announced by the government. A three percent increase in DA is being expected, in which case the dearness allowance received so far will increase to 45 percent from 42 percent. If this happens, about one crore employees and pensioners will get its benefit.

Currently 42% dearness allowance is available

Significantly, the government increases the dearness allowance of central employees twice a year. The first increase i.e. DA Hike was made on March 24, 2023 and the benefit of increased dearness allowance is effective for employees and pensioners from January 2023. Then the government increased the DA by four percent, due to which it increased from 38 percent to 42 percent. Even now there is a demand for an increase of 4 percent in it, but it is expected that the government can increase DA by 3 percent. Let us tell you that in a PTI report recently, Shiv Gopal Mishra, general secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, was quoted as saying that there is a demand for a 4 per cent increase in dearness allowance.

DA is decided on this basis

However, no announcement or comment has been made in this regard by the Central Government at present, but seeing the figures of CPI-IW, such hope is being expressed. Actually, the increase in dearness allowance for central employees and pensioners by the central government is decided on the basis of the updated CPI-IW issued by the Labor Bureau. If we look at its figures, in July 2023, CPI-IW had increased by 3.3 points to 139.7. If compared to the same period a year ago, it shows an increase of about 0.90 percent.

Government amends twice

If the central government decides to increase the DA of central employees by three per cent to 45 per cent in the second half, then its benefits to employees and pensioners will be effective from July 1, 2023. That means there will be a huge increase in the salary of the employees. Let us tell you that keeping in mind the inflation rate, the central government increases the DA of the employees. The higher the inflation, the higher the increase in DA of the employees is expected to be.

The central government revises the dearness allowance of central employees every year on January 1 and July 1. In the year 2006, the central government updated its formula for the calculation of DA and DR for employees and pensioners. In this, the maximum focus remains on the inflation rate. Due to the increase in dearness allowance for the second half, about 47.58 lakh central employees and about 69.76 lakh pensioners will get benefit in the country.

This is the complete calculation of increase in salary

As it is expected that the employees can get the gift of 3 percent DA Hike and the dearness allowance can increase to 45 percent. According to this, if we calculate the increase in salary, then suppose that the basic pay of an employee is Rs 18,000. So as of now, according to 42 per cent DA on this, Rs 7,560 is made. But if seen at the rate of 45 percent, it will increase to Rs 8,100. That means the monthly salary will directly increase by Rs 540.

Whereas if we look at the maximum basic pay of an employee of Rs 56,900, then as of now the DA on this amount is Rs 23,898, whereas after the three percent increase, it will become Rs 25,605.
