7th Pay Commission Latest Update on Fitment Factor: In the last days cabinet meeting for central employees, it was announced to increase Dearness allowance by 3%. After which dearness allowance increased from 31 percent to 34 percent. After this, on Thursday, the Finance Ministry also approved to give increased DA from January 1, 2022.
Employees’ hopes got a setback
No information was given on the fitment factor with the DA Hike. The employees were expecting that the government may increase the fitment factor this year. If this were the case, then the basic salary of the employees would have increased. But, there will be no decision from the government on the demand to increase the fitment factor.
Fitment Factor will not increase this year!
According to the news published in Zee Business, the fitment factor will not increase in the year 2022. At present, the government is not in favor of increasing the fitment factor. Due to Kovid-19 and inflation, the additional financial burden cannot be increased at present. Sources also say that it is not possible to take any decision on the fitment factor till the next Pay Commission. The government is trying to make such a formula that will increase the salary from time to time.
Why is there a demand to increase the Fitment Factor?
Let us tell you that the fitment factor is very important for the employees of the central government. On the basis of this, it will be decided that how much will the minimum salary of the employees increase? According to the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission, in addition to the allowances in the salary of the employees, the basic salary is increased by the fitment factor. Earlier, due to increase in fitment factor, the salary of central employees had increased by more than two and a half times.

At present the fitment factor is 2.57 as per the recommendation of 7th Pay Commission. The basic salary of central employees is determined by multiplying the fitment factor by 2.57. After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, the basic pay was made by adding grade-pay to the Pay Band of the 6th Pay Commission.
