Work from home ends for TCS employees: The country’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is preparing to end its hybrid working policy.

The country’s largest IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is preparing to end its hybrid working policy. In an internal e-mail, the company has said that its workforce should attend office five days a week from October 1. At present, employees have to stay in the office only three days a week. In an official communication sent in mid-September, TCS had asked its employees to return to office for five days from October 1.

The e-mail states “As informed by the CEO and Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) in several townhalls, 5 days per week on all working days (if no holidays) with effect from 1 October 2023 for all It is mandatory to be present in the office on (day).”

What the company said in FY23 annual report

However, the company has not yet responded to CNBCTV18’s email query on this matter. Apart from this, in its FY23 annual report, the company had emphasized the importance of returning to office. More than half of the company’s workforce was hired after March 2020. New employees are inculcated with senior colleagues and leaders through physical interactions by observing and observing their behavior and ways of thinking.

“Without those conversations, employee engagement as well as acculturation suffered,” the company said in its FY23 annual report. All these factors prompted us to gradually bring people back to our offices over the course of the year.

Workforce of more than six lakh people

Interestingly, TCS sets aside more than half of its revenue to meet its salary bill. In FY23, the company spent 56.6 percent of the revenue as employee benefit expenses. At the end of March 2023, the country’s largest private employer had a workforce of more than six lakh people. Therefore, with this step a large number of people can go to office every day.
Earlier in May 2020, during the first wave of Covid, the then CEO of TCS Rajesh Gopinathan had talked about the 25×25 model. Under that policy, the company had planned to bring 25 percent of its workforce back to the office by 2025.
