Woman Shot in Gurugram Club After Rejecting Marriage Proposal (Dec 2025)

A 25-year-old married woman, Kalpana, was shot in the stomach inside a club on MG Road, Gurugram, after allegedly rejecting a persistent marriage proposal. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of December 20, 2025, has led to the arrest of two men who were apprehended by a joint police team in Uttar Pradesh five days later.

The Attack: Refusal Leads to Violence

The victim, a resident of Najafgarh (Delhi) who worked at the Gurugram club, was approached by the prime accused, Tushar (alias Jonty), around 1:00 AM. Despite being aware of her marital status, Tushar reportedly proposed marriage once again. Upon her refusal, Tushar allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot her at point-blank range before fleeing the scene with his accomplice.

Escalation of Harassment

The victim’s husband revealed that the harassment had been escalating for months. According to the police complaint:

  • Previous Threats: About a month prior to the shooting, Tushar had visited the couple’s home in Delhi, where he allegedly created a ruckus and even fired shots at their house.

  • Premeditated Intent: During interrogation, the accused admitted to befriending the victim six months ago. He claimed his motive was her “repeated refusal” to marry him.

  • The Arrest: Following the shooting, the duo fled to Baraut in Uttar Pradesh, where they were tracked down by the Sector 40 Crime Branch and MG Road police teams.

Current Status of the Victim

Kalpana was rushed to a private hospital in Gurugram immediately after the attack. While she was initially declared unfit to give a statement due to the severity of the abdominal wound, she is currently undergoing treatment. Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
