This is the reason why everyone gets their Voter ID card made after turning 18 years of age. However, have you ever wondered what would happen if you had two Voter ID cards? Are there any rules regarding having two voting cards?

In India, people who have crossed the age of 18 years can vote. To vote, it is necessary to have Voter ID. Voter ID also serves as identity and address proof. Let us tell you that the dates of Lok Sabha elections have been announced. The first phase of voting will begin from April 19.

What happens if you have two voter IDs?

Voter ID card is a government document. This card is given to people who have crossed the age of 18 years. So that people can vote. If you have 2 or more Voter ID cards, you may face the possibility of going to jail. Therefore you need to be very cautious. In fact, being registered as a voter in more than one voter list proves to be illegal. Actually, having Voter ID card of more than one area is considered a crime. Under the Public Representation Act 1950, there is a provision of one year imprisonment or fine or both for becoming a voter from two places. Therefore, if found guilty, there can be a jail term of 1 year.

Get a Voter ID canceled

If you also have two Voter ID cards, you can avoid legal trouble by using one method. If for some reason you also have two Voter ID cards, you can cancel them. For this you have to fill form number 7. Then it has to be submitted to the Election Office of India. Apart from this, you can also submit this form in the office of BLO, SDM.
