Train accident in Bengal: A freight train collided with the Kanchenjunga Express in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. More than 200 people are reported to be injured in the accident. Many people are also feared dead.

Train accident in Bengal: A railway accident has taken place in New Jalpaiguri, West Bengal. According to information, a freight train collided with the Kanchenjunga Express here. At least five people have been confirmed dead in the accident. At the same time, 20 to 25 people are reported to be injured. According to information, the Kanchenjunga Express was going towards Sealdah. Then a freight train hit it from behind. Due to this, three bogies of the passenger train derailed. According to information, many people are feared to be trapped. Relief and rescue work has been started.

A freight train hit the Kanchenjunga Express standing at the station between Rangapani and Nijbari stations of Katihar division from behind. About three bogies of the Kanchenjunga Express derailed. The push was so strong that one bogie climbed over the other bogie. There has been a stir in the Katihar Railway Division on the information of the incident. Railway officials have left for the accident site with accidental relief train and medical van from Katihar and NJP. It is said that more than 200 people have been injured in the incident.

It has not been confirmed how many people have died in this incident, but the video which is going viral from the incident site clearly states that some people have also lost their lives in this accident. It is said that the Kanchenjunga Express going to Sealdah was standing at Rangapani station. Meanwhile, a goods train hit it from behind, due to which the guard bogie and SLR as well as the general bogie have been badly damaged. Many coaches have derailed. Due to which hundreds of people are reported to be injured.

Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, Sabyasachi Dey confirmed the incident. He said that it is not yet known how many have been injured. It is also not known how many passengers have died in this incident. Many senior railway officials of the division and NJP have left for the incident site. Senior DCM Dheeraj Chandra Kalita said that accidental relief train and medical vehicle have left.
