A new diplomatic conflict has emerged between the United States and Iran over attacks on Indian ships. US President Donald Trump leveled serious accusations against Iran, saying that drone attacks on Indian ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz are completely unacceptable.
Iran, meanwhile, vehemently rejected these allegations, calling them “baseless” and asserting that Trump was lying outright because the US was playing a double game with India. Trump claimed on his social media platform, Truth Social, that the targeting of Indian ships was “untoward.” He also alleged that Iran had leaked confidential information related to the peace talks to the media.
However, the Embassy of Iran in New Delhi, India, rejected Trump’s allegations, saying that blaming Iran for attacks on Indian ships in the Strait of Hormuz is completely baseless. The Iranian Embassy retorted that this allegation is an attempt to divert the world’s attention from the fact that within the last one week, three Indian ships have been attacked by the US, in which three Indian sailors lost their lives. The Embassy termed this as extremely unfortunate and worrying. This controversy has come to the fore at a time when India has taken a tough stand on attacks on commercial ships with Indian crews near the Oman coast.
New Delhi has summoned the US Embassy’s Charge d’Affaires and expressed its concern and protest. The Indian government has described these attacks as “deeply concerning,” stating that the safety of commercial ships and innocent sailors is non-negotiable. India has strongly raised the matter with the US and demanded full accountability for the incident. This incident has further complicated the already tense West Asian situation. The safety of Indian ships and sailors has now become India’s primary concern, while the blame game between the US and Iran has intensified.
