Rear Seat Belt Rules: If you too drive a car, be careful. Your challan may be deducted due to your slightest mistake. After the death of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Misri in a road accident, it has become mandatory for the passengers sitting behind to wear a seat belt. This rule is old, but the traffic police is now showing strictness on it. In this sequence, the Delhi Traffic Police has launched a campaign to install seat belts on the back seat of the car. Challans are also being deducted for the wrong passengers. The amount of fine has been kept at Rs 1000.

Alap Patel, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi Traffic), said, “The legal provisions are already in place, but after the recent incident (the death of the Egyptian), it has become a topic of discussion.” The official said, “Delhi traffic police is already running a campaign to spread awareness about wearing seat belts. We are also taking legal action.” Last week, in a tweet, the Delhi Police appealed to citizens not to drive at high speed and always wear seat belts.

Mumbai traffic police made rules

Taking an important step, the Mumbai Traffic Police on Friday made it mandatory for all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts from November 1. This decision has been taken in view of the amendment in section 194(b)(1) of the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act. In this it is mandatory that any person who is present in the vehicle must wear a seat belt.

Time given till 31st October

Legal action will be taken for driving without seat belt or taking passengers without seat belt. Mumbai Traffic Police has given time till October 31 to all those vehicle owners who do not have seat belt facility.

The traffic police has also started a campaign against vehicles with black glass. Delhi Traffic Police tweeted in the past and wrote, “Delhi Traffic Police will punish those people whose vehicles have more than the limit black glass or film is mounted on it. We will also prohibit minors from driving without a license and punish the vehicle owners.” According to official figures, last year in Delhi, more than 1,900 people died in road accidents caused by the negligence of drivers or passengers.
