June 2022 SUV sales was a mixed bag with some models registering positive growth and the others witnessing de-growth on a YoY basis. As usual Hyundai Creta emerged as the leader selling a whooping 13,790 units registering a YoY growth of 39 percent.

Kia Seltos took the second place selling more than 8000 units. But, it couldn’t replicate last year’s sales and definitively craves for an update. At number 3, XUV700 is only deterred by manufacturing constraints. Else, it has all the possibilities of becoming the country’s best selling SUV.

Mahindra Scorpio took the fourth place and the sold cars were probably the last units as Mahindra has launched the Scorpio N and is readying the Scorpio Classic with mild updates. Once the sales of both the Scorpios stabilise, expect both of them on the top 5 list.

14 MG ZS EV 310 250 24%

Among the older cars here, Tata Harrier has achieved the maximum YoY growth this time. From selling just 2041 units last year, it has managed 3015 units this time, which is close to 1000 units more.

Skoda Kushaq came sixth. The Skoda has all the possibilities of taking the fight against Creta if it’s able to sort out the manufacturing issues and feature deletions of late. MG Hector and 7-seaters – Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari took the next 3 spots. Except Safari, the other 2 have faced de-growth.

The 10th and 11th places were taken by MG Astor and Volkswagen Taigun while Jeep Compass clinched the 12th spot with 13 percent YoY growth. The now-discontinued Maruti Suzuki S-Cross came 13th and the units sold were probably the last ones.

The last 2 places were taken by MG ZS EV and Nissan Kicks. Though they have nothing to boast about, the SUVs are quite consistent in their numbers.

Coming to the entry-level luxury SUV segment, Toyota Fortuner has punched above its high price with a staggering sales of 3133 units which is nearly 6 times more than what it managed last year.

The latest-kid-on-the-block, Jeep Meridian came second with a decent 1071-unit sales. MG Gloster distantly followed the Meridian and came third while Skoda Kodiaq came fourth. Both the cars managed just feeble numbers.

Mahindra Alturas G4, Volkswagen Tiguan, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Toyota Hilux took the remaining spots. Mahindra’s flagship has witnessed good growth this time around. C5 has faced de-growth.
