In the coming times, the drivers are going to get rid of the use of FASTag for paying toll tax at the toll plaza. According to the latest information, in the coming time, drivers will not need FASTag. According to the new arrangement, there will be toll collection from satellite in the moving vehicle

When FASTag was introduced, it was seen as a revolutionary step in the toll collection process in India and was implemented across the country. But now preparations are being made to go ahead and start the process of satellite based toll collection in the country through the number plate of the vehicle. In this, toll collection will be done through satellite from moving vehicles and there will be no need for FASTag. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has told about this.

In fact, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has told about this while giving this information in reply to a question during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told in Parliament . He said that there is full scope for improvement of toll collection through state-of-the-art technology. From this, neither one can steal the toll nor can anyone be saved. Till now there is no provision of punishment for not paying toll.

Not only this, Gadkari said that in view of this, the process of bringing a bill in Parliament is going on to implement this new technology . After this, every effort is being made to implement this system in the country within six months. With this neither there will be a need to make toll nor any person will be able to pay without toll. Those who try to escape from this will be punished.

Vehicles will be identified through GPRS

He said that vehicle manufacturers have been asked to provide GPRS facility in vehicles so that it will ease toll collection and people will also get relief. At present a person uses 10 km toll road but he has to pay toll for 75 km but on the start of GPRS based toll collection process from where the vehicle will enter the toll and when it deboards, the toll will be charged. This will also save consumers.

On the other hand, Gadkari said that the work of constructing 26 Green Express Highways is going on in full swing in the country . By the year 2024, after the start of these 26 Green Express Highways in the country, India will not be behind America in terms of road. He said that the National Highways Authority of India does not have any financial crunch. The country has the potential to build roads at a cost of Rs 5 lakh crore every year. The bank is ready to provide funds for road construction.

Despite the installation of FASTag, people are paying toll in cash,

Gadkari also said that despite the installation of FASTag for toll collection in vehicles in the country, the recovery is not being completed. Right now, Rs 120 crore is being recovered from it every day. 97 percent people are using this fastag but only 67 percent are paying toll through it. The rest are paying double the toll in cash.
