Snapdeal Update: Snapdeal partners with NPCL for QR code based payment

New Delhi: E-commerce company Snapdeal on Thursday said it has partnered with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to facilitate QR-based digital payments to buyers while receiving goods at their addresses. The company said in a statement that the facility is exclusively for new customers, who are not comfortable paying first for goods while shopping.

According to the statement, customers will be given the option to pay with the QR code while taking goods to their address. The facility will work with all UPI-payment options, including major private and public sector banks like HDFC, SBI and ICICI Bank linked to Bhima, Google Pay, WhatsApp Pay, PhonePe, Paytm and UPI apps. The company said that payments can also be made through cooperative banks and regional rural banks (RRBs).

In view of Snapdeal’s strong engagement with buyers in non-metro cities, the partnership aims to further increase the use of UPI-based payments in smaller cities, the statement said.

It will also help to increase the use of UPI by offering hassle-free payments to a variety of merchants. Snapdeal’s Senior Vice President Rajneesh Wahi said the company is looking for additional ways to make the online experience better and more convenient for customers, especially those beginning their online shopping.

Using the link on the delivery app, the distribution executive will generate an UPI-linked QR code for the order amount. Customers will be able to scan the code from any UPI-linked payment app on their phone and pay for their purchase.

The statement said that before making the payment, the customer would be able to confirm the name and amount of the payer.
