School Holidays in Diwali : Festivals have begun across the country. As the festivals approach, school holidays have been announced in many states. This year, students and teachers in Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar are getting holidays for various reasons. States have already announced holidays due to administrative surveys, Diwali, and Chhath Puja.
Karnataka – Long holiday for survey
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that schools in the state will be closed from October 8 to October 18, 2025. This decision has been taken to complete the ongoing social and educational survey, commonly known as the caste survey, in the state. The extended holiday has been extended due to delays in the survey in several districts. According to official data, 97% of the survey has been completed in Koppal district, while 63% and 60% of the work is still pending in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Teachers who are on duty for mid-term exams have been exempted from the survey.
Rajasthan – 12 days holiday for Diwali
The Rajasthan Education Department has declared Diwali holidays for schools from October 13th to October 24th, 2025. Starting today, this holiday will last for a total of 12 days, giving students and teachers ample opportunity to celebrate the festival.
Uttar Pradesh – Choti Diwali holiday
Diwali holidays will begin slightly later in Uttar Pradesh. Schools will be closed from October 20th to 23rd. Adding the weekend of October 18th and 19th, students will receive a total of six days off so they can celebrate Diwali with their families.
Bihar – Diwali and Chhath Puja break
School holidays in Bihar will begin on October 20th, extended to accommodate Diwali and Chhath Puja preparations. Other states are also announcing holidays around Diwali.
