It is worth noting that in the last few years, the number of unclaimed deposits in banks has increased very rapidly. In such a situation, banks are giving special emphasis to complete the process of nomination from the customers.
Why is nomination important?
State Bank of India from time to time urges its customers to complete the nomination. If you are also a customer of State Bank and want to complete the process of enrollment in your savings account or FD account, then you can easily do this work. It is worth noting that the nominee does not have any right on the amount deposited in the account till he is alive, but if an account holder dies, then in such a situation the nominee will get the entire amount deposited in the account. Having a nominee in the account makes the process of claiming easier.
Add nominee to SBI savings account in this way-
- To add nominee in the savings account, first visit the official website of SBI onlinesbi.com.
- Here go to the menu and click on ‘Request & Enquiries’ tab.
- After this you will see online nomination option, click on it.
- After this select your account type like savings or FD. Next go to Add Nominee option.
- Here enter the name of the nominee, date of birth, address and relationship to the account holder.
- Then submit this information.
- Next, an OTP will come on your registered mobile number, enter it.
- After this click on the Confirm tab. After this the nomination process will be completed.
Add nominee through YONO app-
- First of all login to your Yono app.
- Next click on Services and Request option.
- Next select the option of account nominee.
- After this click on the option of Manage Nominee.
- After this you select your account type.
- Finally, enter the nominee details and submit.
Nominee can also be updated by visiting the bank
Apart from online, State Bank also provides the facility to customers to update their nominee offline. You can go to SBI branch and fill the nominee form and submit it. Whereas in minor account, if the account holder dies, the parents will get the amount deposited in the account.
