SBI has decided to discontinue the mCASH service from December 1, 2025. Customers are now advised to use digital payment options such as UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS. After November 30, 2025, the ability to send and claim mCASH will no longer be available on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite.
The country’s largest bank, State Bank of India (SBI), has given important news to its bank account holders. Actually, SBI Bank is going to close a major service. This will cause problems for many users in sending money. From December 1, SBI Bank customers will not be able to use the mCASH feature. Giving information on this, State Bank has said that after November 30, 2025, the facility of sending and claiming mCASH will not be available on OnlineSBI and YONO Lite. After this decision of the bank, all the users who used to use this service will not be able to use it.
SBI’s mCash service is a convenient money transfer service for customers, allowing them to complete transactions using just their mobile number or email address. Designed for small transactions and instant payments, this feature will no longer be available to customers starting December 1st.

Why was mCash service discontinued?
The bank says that mCash ran on outdated technology, which wasn’t fast enough or completely secure in today’s times. Therefore, by saying goodbye to it, SBI aims to make digital payments stronger, faster, and more reliable. So, if you still use mCash, quickly switch to UPI, or you might regret it after November 30th.

What should users do if mCash is closed?
You won’t face any problems if mCash is discontinued. SBI has made all the necessary arrangements for this. Now you can easily send money through BHIM SBI Pay, the UPI app, IMPS, or other digital methods. These methods are not only fast but also super secure. The BHIM SBI Pay app, in particular, is so simple that it takes just two minutes to send or receive money without visiting a bank.
Millions of people are already using it and are happy. Sending money through BHIM SBI Pay is also very easy. First, open the app, log in, and press the “Pay” button. Three options will appear: VPA (e.g., name@sbi), account number plus IFSC, or scan a QR code. You can select whichever is more convenient for you. You can select your debit account and press a tick mark. Enter the UPI PIN and the money will be transferred to the other person’s account. To address this issue, efforts are being made to promote newer methods like UPI, IMPS, NEFT, and RTGS.
How does mCASH work in the first place?
If you are an SBI customer and use internet banking and want to send money to someone, but don’t want to bother registering the other person as a beneficiary, then enter his/her mobile number or email ID, write the amount and the money would go directly to mCASH.
Now, the recipient will receive an account with any bank, regardless of the bank.
They will receive an SMS or email containing a secure link and an 8-digit passcode. By downloading State Bank’s mCASH app or clicking on the SBI link online, you can enter your account details and the money will be credited to your account as soon as you enter the passcode. You could use it without registration or waiting.
