An alert has come from the government for crores of people using Samsung smartphones. The government has issued this alert for a section of users using Samsung smartphones in India. Such users have been asked to update their smartphones immediately.

Special alert for such users

Computer Emergency Response Team of India i.e. CERT-In has asked Samsung users to update their smartphones citing security risks. This alert is for those users of Samsung smartphones, whose phones are currently running on Android 11, 12, 13 or 14 version. The agency says that there are some problems in Samsung phones running on Android 11, 12, 13, 14, due to which the attacker can break into your phone without you knowing.

Do not take government warnings lightly

The alert issued by CERT-In is of high-risk warning category. This means that if you are also running a Samsung smartphone on Android version 11 to 14, then you should not take this warning lightly at all. All such users should take immediate action on the government alert and update their smartphones. Otherwise, sensitive information can be stolen from your smartphone.


Attackers can do this work

According to the warning, due to the flaws found in smartphones with the respective Android version, the attacker can bypass security restrictions and exfiltrate sensitive information. Also the attacker can execute arbitrary code on the targeted system. Due to this, many serious problems can arise including access control of Knox feature, facial recognition software, authorization issue in AR Emoji app, memory corruption.

There is risk on these devices

According to CERT-In, if an attacker targets a device, he can access the SIM PIN, send broadcasts, read the sandbox data of AR Emoji, change the system time and bypass Knox Guard lock. Yes, can access arbitrary files. Among the smartphones affected by this vulnerability, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy Z Fold5 etc. are prominent.
