Russia Ukraine War: Russian troops ground a “military” factory outside Kyiv late Thursday using sea-based long-range missiles called Caliber. The statement came a day after Russian officials accused the Ukrainian military of launching airstrikes on residential buildings in a Russian territory bordering Ukraine.

Moscow. Russia’s defense ministry on Friday called for increasing missile attacks on Kyiv in response to Ukraine’s claims on Russian territory. “In response to any terrorist attacks or sabotage carried out by the Ukrainian nationalist regime on Russian territory, the number of missile attacks against Kyiv will be increased,” the ministry said in its daily update. It said Russian troops grounded a “military” factory outside Kyiv late Thursday using sea-based long-range missiles called Caliber.

The statement came a day after Russian officials accused the Ukrainian military of launching airstrikes on residential buildings in a Russian territory bordering Ukraine. According to Russian officials, seven people were injured in these attacks. According to Russian officials, about 100 residential buildings were damaged in Thursday’s attack on the village of Klimovo in the Bryansk region. The Defense Ministry said Russian forces shot down a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter allegedly involved in an attack on the Bryansk region in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region.

Ukraine denies helicopter attack on Russia
Authorities in another border area, Belgorod, also reported on Thursday about shelling by Ukraine. However, Kyiv has denied the helicopter attack in Russian territory, instead accusing Russia of fabricating such incidents to fuel “anti-Ukraine frenzy” in the country. In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday that its strategic rocket forces “eliminated 30 Polish mercenaries” in an attack on the village of Izyumskoye, off the city of Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine.

Badly damaged Russian warship sunk
Earlier, the battleship Moskva, a part of the Russian combat fleet stationed in the Black Sea, which was badly damaged, sank on Thursday. Ukraine has said its military launched missile strikes on the warship, while Russia has claimed Moskva was damaged by fire and there was no missile attack on it. Significantly, after withdrawing from the northern part of the country, including the capital Kyiv, Russia is preparing for an attack on eastern Ukraine. In such a situation, the sinking of the warship is being considered a big symbolic defeat for Russia.

The warship was capable of carrying 16 long-range missiles. Experts say that the sinking of the warship will adversely affect Russia’s military capability in the Black Sea. In addition, the incident is also a major blow to Russia’s prestige in the Ukraine war, which is already seen as a major historical blunder.
