RTO New Rule: Big news! Now make a duplicate registration certificate of the vehicle easily sitting at home, know process

Online Duplicate RC: It is well known that driving without a Registration Certificate (RC) is a crime. Therefore, along with sitting in the car, we must check the necessary documents like RC of the vehicle, pollution certificate, insurance and driving license once.


Vehicle RC is one such document, which is required for almost all vehicle related work. If the vehicle is stolen, then an FIR has to be lodged with the police. For this, it is necessary to have proof of purchase of the vehicle. That’s why RC is needed here too.

If the registration certificate of your vehicle is lost somewhere and you want to get a duplicate RC made, this news can be of use to you. For duplicate registration certificate, you have to follow some important steps.

We can apply and obtain duplicate RC both online and offline. Here we are discussing both offline and online ways to get RC.

Apply for Duplicate RC offline

  • To get Duplicate Registration Certificate (Duplicate RC) through offline method, first we have to register an FIR with the police. For the FIR, the details of the owner of the vehicle, chassis number, engine number and registration number will have to be entered. To get these things, go to the RTO office where the vehicle was first registered.
  • Take RC-Extract from the office. RC-Extract contains information about the registered vehicle of the car owner as well as the driver’s license. Here you have to fill the duplicate RC application form. Match it with Form 26. Submit the paperwork to the RTO office and get the receipt

Get Duplicate RC Online

  • If you want to get duplicate RC through online method then you have to visit the official website. Fill the form for duplicate RC here. Enter the information like police FIR and vehicle insurance along with the form.
  • For duplicate RC you have to pay fee. Save and copy the receipt received after making the payment. Submit the receipt and other documents to the RTO office.
  • Some documents may be required for online duplicate RC. These include form number 26, original copy of FIR in case of car theft or loss, copy of PUC, copy of insurance certificate, copy of address, traffic police challan clearance, PAN card or verified copy of Form 60 and 61, pencil of chassis and engine. Print, identity of the owner’s signature etc. will have to be submitted.
  • Along with all these documents, an affidavit will have to be submitted stating that you have lost the RC and it has not been taken again.
