new Delhi. A valueless society can never make a country prosperous. The story of the passion of two ordinary humans from Lucknow who became the Messiah for 15 migrant labor families. This story, which assures humanity to be alive, will make those self-thinkers, who recovered house rent from migrant laborers in distress, be thrown out for not paying, and did not show any humanity. Read Ambika Vajpayee ‘s report from Lucknow-

Instead of locks on the tin door, a lump of rope and two four half-naked wood lying randomly near the fireplace in front…. Seeing this picture of Lucknow, land owner Swami Kishan Kumar of Sikanderpur, Kursi Road, was convinced that the habitat of the laborers settled on his plot was uprooted. Worker families unemployed in the lockdown are leaving the city. Just then, a runaway child heard the painful news. It was found that the laborer couple from the township in Chhattisgarh had fallen victim to the accident, which led to two innocent orphans. The news spread like fire in the nearby slums too. Those who were preparing to return home got up. But hunger and helplessness forced him to return. At this time Kishan Kumar became Sahara. Be assured not to worry about rent, food and ration. If you have life, you have the world….

It was okay to waive the rent, but it was not easy to stop a dozen families and make arrangements for their food and drink. But when he stepped in, his friend Jitendra Yadav became a friend. While Jitendra Yadav did his duty during the lockdown, he also fully supported the workers. Together, the two made arrangements with the Community Kitchen of the Development Authority to provide food to the working families. Despite not having the card, he got some ration from the Kotdar and got the right amount done with the help of voluntary organizations.

The time of crisis has passed and now men along with women from the workers’ family have started going to work a little. Here, Kishan Kumar is working to ensure that these laborers do not have to suffer in such a crisis again. On the suggestion of friend Jitendra Yadav, he is registering the laborers with the labor department. In this connection, he reached the Municipal Corporation with Ram Prakash and others.

Ram Prakash said, the mistake of not having a ration card and not registering was heavily in the lockdown. Now registration is done and I will get the ration card made soon. Said Kishan Kumar to be a messiah in trouble. On their plot, we live in a hut. They did not take electricity money. Here, Kishan Kumar expresses his objection to calling himself the Messiah, saying that we too are human beings. Having seen the pain of another, closed my eyes and so what is the purpose of living like this….

God for us …

I had gathered the house to go back, but the death of the fellow worker stopped the steps. In times of despair, hunger and unemployment, Kishan Bhaiya took care of us as a family. Apart from giving food and drink, they also provided masks and sanitizers. Also waived rent and electricity bill. Now we are also registering so that government help can be provided in future. He is the Messiah for us.

I will be indebted for life …

There was no earning due to the closure of everything. The worry was how to arrange for the rent, electricity bill and stomach. Children were more worried. At such a time, Kishan and Jitendra Bhaiya tied up and refused to let everyone go. We are all illiterate among people and there is no information about government schemes. They told about it and are registering. Now life is slowly coming back on track, but we will remain indebted to what these two have done.

Set an example of a civilized society …

In this time of crisis, the government is trying to bear every responsibility. It is evident that in spite of all government efforts, the participation of society is also necessary. In the era of epidemic, whatever institutions or individuals are doing such tasks, they have discharged the duties of the society shoulder to shoulder with the government. This is an example of a civilized and cultured society. Dainik Jagran’s campaign provides a platform to such people of the society. I congratulate and wish both the dignitaries.

-Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Deputy Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh

Salute to Jagran’s thinking

Dainik Jagran has always been at the forefront of social concerns. The Rising India campaign is a commendable initiative. This campaign will serve as a support for people and institutions living on social concerns. At the time of disaster, whatever institution or individual comes forward and performs its duties and responsibilities towards the country, it is commendable. Both of them did a very commendable job for the migrant laborers. It is inspiring for all.

Inspirational for other police personnel

Throughout the lockdown, all the policemen performed their duty like a warrior with great intent. One feels proud to see any policeman fulfilling his social responsibility in the midst of duty. The steps taken by Jitendra Yadav for the betterment of migrant laborers while doing their duty are greatly appreciated. For other police personnel, this task will serve as an inspiration. Many congratulations and best wishes to them from my side.

Those who did not find any helpers…

In Lucknow, these 15 migrant families found the Messiah, who kept the shame of humanity, but did not find the rest, who had to suffer terrible hardships, took long hikes, were cut off from the rail, fell into the ditch. Ranjit, a resident of Arjunganj Sarswan village, had been living in Mumbai’s Vile Parle Nehru Nagar for ten years with wife and two children on rent. Had to come back when rent and no earnings. The government and the landlord also did not help.

Ranjeet told that if we had a stay arrangement in Mumbai, we would not come back. Govind Gautam, a resident of Nizampur Majhigawan village of Arjunganj, used to work in a mall in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Govind missed his job and returned to his home Nizampur Majhigwan. According to Govind, if we had got such help too, we would not have been suffering. We were banished from the mall as soon as it was closed after the lock down. Nobody helped us there.
