Standards for Ration Card: If you are also a ration card holder, then definitely read this news. The Department of Food and Public Distribution is making changes in the rules of ration card. Under this, the standards set for the eligible people taking ration from government ration shops will change. Let us tell you that the draft of the new standard is almost ready now. For this the process of meetings with the state governments has also been completed. Let us know about the new provision.

Why are standards changing?

It is worth noting that there are many such people in the country who are taking advantage of ration in a fake way. According to the Department of Food and Public Distribution, at present 80 crore people across the country are taking advantage of the National Food Security Act (NFSA). There are many people among them who are financially prosperous. This is the reason that now the government is going to change its rules. The new standard will be made completely transparent so that there can be no malpractices in it.

Keeping in mind the suggestions given by the state governments, new standards are being prepared which will be finalized soon.

One Nation, One Ration Card Scheme

Significantly, till now ‘One Nation, One Ration Card (ONORC) scheme’ has been implemented in 32 states and UTs. Crores of beneficiaries i.e. 86 percent of the population coming under NFSA are taking advantage of this scheme. Every month about 1.5 crore people are taking benefits by moving from one place to another. The government has also increased the free ration scheme to help the people.
