Ration Card: Changes in ration card rules, government has reduced the quota of rice, know how much will be available now

Ration Card Update: The government has changed the rules of the scheme to get free ration to the ration card holders. Because of which now people will get 1 kg less rice.


New Delhi. The government has given a big blow to the ration card holders. The government made a big change in the rules of the free ration scheme. Let us tell you that it has been decided to reduce the quota of rice available under the ration card. This decision has been taken by the Telangana government, due to which now the people of the state will get 1 kg less rice. The state government has started distribution of free rice to about 91.5 lakh families having ration cards in Telangana from Wednesday. Every member of the beneficiary family will get 5 kg till March this year i.e. for the next three months. Rice will be given.

Let us tell you that while making changes in the ration rules, the government said that from now on, the distribution of free rice to ration card holders has been reduced. This decision has been taken by the Telangana government for the citizens of the state.

Know why the quota of rice was reduced
Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamlakar said in a statement that due to software update in the rice supplied under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), 200 kg of rice will be available during the period between May 2021 and December 2022. Instead 203 kg of rice was given. Means 3 kg more rice was given. Due to which now the state government has decided to reduce one kilogram per month for the next three months from January to March this year.

6 kg rice will be available from April
He said that from April we will resume the distribution of 6 kg rice per person to all families having ration cards. 54.48 lakh families are getting benefits under PMGKY. Apart from this, the state government is distributing rice to 92 lakh beneficiaries at its own expense.
